Blog series: Did your feet grow in Pregnancy?

You might be asking yourself, “Did my feet grow during pregnancy?” The typical answer is no. While feet can change, the reason your feet might appear bigger or you might need larger shoes during pregnancy is due to your arches flattening.

The medial longitudinal arch of your foot bears a lot of weight during walking. There are entire shoe lines for runners designed to support this arch.

During pregnancy, both ligament laxity and weight gain contribute to extra pressure on your arch.

As this arch flattens, it can create the illusion of a bigger foot when, in reality, your foot is lengthening due to a weakened arch.

Can we help with this? Absolutely!

We incorporate exercises like bridging, deadlifts, squats, and standing on one foot while doing exercises to support your arches. Postpartum programming isn’t just for the core and pelvic floor;

addressing the entire body helps with coordination

and injury prevention for the future!
